WELCOME to the CHEMISTRY AND
HERBAL CONSTITUENTS module
Discover atoms and bonding, functional groups and how these come together to make the active chemicals in herbal medicines.
Plants produce a variety of chemical compounds and some plants have been shown to contain hundreds of different constituents. Knowing about the active chemistry contained in our materia medica herbs helps us to understand what their medicinal and therapeutic properties are and how they work in the body.
