IMPORTANT INFORMATION

FOR TRAINING AND WORKING

IN BETONICA’S CLINIC

  • The clinic runs from 9.30am - 5.30pm.

    Face-to-Face Clinic:

You will be expected to be in the clinic area 30 minutes before opening time (at 9am) to set up.

It is essential that you arrive on time (or preferably early) to clinic. If you arrive late you may not be able to gain the full number of clinic hours required for that day.

    Online Clinic:

Login well before 9:30am (at least 10 minutes beforehand) and again shortly before 14:00 so there is time for you to remedy any technical issue, such as software updates, check your sound etc.

The supervisor will not let participants enter the meeting until 9:30, (or 14:00pm) but all participants should have logged on, and be in the waiting room, and hopefully having sorted technical issues well before then.

Please see the Online Clinic Etiquette document for full guidance.

  • It is important to be professional at all times, remember you are not only representing Betonica but also all medical herbalists.

    • Be on time, in the appropriate clothing and with the required clinical equipment

    • Be courteous, polite, and respectful to all patients and visitors to the clinic

    • No mobile phones are to be used inside of the clinic area, they must be used during breaks only (they must remain on silent at all times).

    • Do not discuss clinic matters during your lunch break.

When attending a consultation, students should be silent, avoid unnecessary movement and must not interrupt the consultation in any way. Once the consultation has begun you must not leave the clinical area/room.

Online Clinic: For Online Clinic Etiquette, all of the above applies plus plus is very important you review and understand the expectations found in the Online Clinic Guidelines & Etiquette document.

  • Please see the Clinical Equipment List.

  • In Year 2, you will be able to attend 2 days of ‘external’ clinic (i.e. at an approved non-Betonica clinic).

Every student must arrange their own allocated external clinic hours. More information will be provided to you at the September Clinic Induction.

Please note you can not start attending/accruing clinical hours before the September Seminar.

  • We recommend Balens Insurance, use the website or call 01684 893006 and ask for ‘student cover on their individual Balens scheme’.

If you are a student member of NIMH, you get a 14% discount.

It can take a couple of weeks to get the insurance documents sorted so apply in good time.

Please upload a copy of your valid insurance HERE

To work in any health care setting you need insurance, and usually this is provided by your professional association, but in the case of students, you are either covered by your clinic supervisor’s insurance or your own personal insurance.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLINIC WITHOUT THIS COVER IN PLACE.

  • Before you start Year 2, you will need to read through the Clinical Training Handbook, this will be available to you when you gain access to the Y2 Learning Platform page.

However HERE is a sneak preview of some useful chapters.

For Online Clinic you need to be familiar with the Online Clinic Guidance and Etiquette.
